Gobles track teams host season kick-off meet

   GOBLES - The Gobles track teams hosted Schoolcraft and Galesburg-Augusta to start the 2019 season. 
   The boys track team has 24 athletes on the roster. “Athletes that will make their mark this year are Jimmy Sandahl, a returning state qualifier in the 400m dash, Justin Chilla in the mile and two mile, and Brady Dembinski in the high jump and hurdles,” said Gobles Coach Marc Kline.
   “Freshman Nile Devers worked hard this winter and is poised to compete in the 2 mile.” 
   The Tigers finished their first meet in third place with 32 points, behind Galesburg-Augusta (39) and Schoolcraft (100) points. Justin Chilla placed second in the 3200m run (11:40.27) and fourth in the 1600m run (5:24.77). Brady Dem-binski placed second in three events - the 110m hurdles (18.34), high jump (5'07.00), and the 300m hurdles (51.51). Jimmy Sandahl won the 400m dash in 56.60. 
   In the relay events, Gobles placed second in the 4x200 (1:51.17), the 4x400 (4:12.65) and the 4x800 (10:04.19).
   The girls team has 18 athletes on the roster with just two seniors, Carlie Hancox and Lyndsey Rynd.  
   The Lady Tigers finished in third place with 12 points behind Galesburg-Augusta (71) and Schoolcraft (74). 
   Karlee Henderson won the 300m hurdles with a time of 59.80, and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 26'08.00.  Michaela Buxon placed third in the 100m (14.59) and 200m (33.38) dashes.  Abby Sandahl placed fifth in the 400m dash (1:19:35) and Keeghan Kelly placed fifth in the 1600m (7:01.86), the 3200m run (15:21.38).
