CHEER: Lawrence squad score season-highs in weeks’ competitions

   The Lawrence varsity cheer team competed at the  Rock the House Invitational at Berrien Springs last Thursday, Feb. 13.
   The girls performed three solid rounds. Their round one score of 194.1 was their season’s highest score. Their round two score was 165.5, and round three scored 256.1. Their total score of 615.7 placed them third behind Lake Michigan Catholic and Hartford.
   “The girls are continuously making progress and putting their all on the mat. I am very proud of their dedication, sportsmanship, and school pride they show each and every day,” said Brenda Wright, varsity cheer coach.
   On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Tiger cheer squad competed at the BCS Conference Finals  at Buchanan.
   The girls scored season highs in all three rounds. For round one, they received a score of 201.8 and for round two, a 172.4. Round three was solid and scored a 270.3. “This totaled to a 644.5, which broke the school record by 15.6 points,” said Wright
   Lawrence placed fifth at the meet, but fourth overall in the conference.
   Seniors on the team, which included senior, Zoey Haislip, were honored.
   “She is such a dedicated, hard working person and has such an intense love for this sport and we will miss her next year,” said Wright. “I am super proud of the girls and ecstatic to see what they bring to the mat next Saturday at Bronson High School for districts.”
