Three scouts awarded Eagle rank

	During an Eagle Court of Honor held March 2, three members of Paw Paw Boy Scout Troop 169 received their Eagle rank, plus state tributes from local legislators. The presentations included, from left: Josh Przygocki, Senator Aric Nesbitt’s District Director; Eagle Scouts Stephen DeYoung, Robert Ledesma, and  Trevor Lewis; and State Representative Beth Griffin.

    PAW PAW  - An Eagle Court of Honor was held Saturday, March 2, at St. Mary School, Paw Paw, for three members of Paw Paw Boy Scout Troop 169.
    The scouts honored   were Robert Ledesma, son of Jaime and Connie Ledesma; Trevor Lewis, son of Dan and Candace Lewis; and Stephen DeYoung, son of Paul and Anita DeYoung.
    State Rep. Beth Griffin, along with Josh Przygocki, representing Senator Aric Nesbitt, presented Special Tributes and United States flags that were flown over the state capitol, on behalf of the State. Van Buren Commission Chairman, Richard Godfrey, presented congressional recognition certificates, on behalf of Congressman Fred Upton’s office for the scouts earning the Eagle rank, and for their community service projects.
    Ledesma’s Eagle project consisted of planning and organizing a repainting project of fire hydrants for the Village of Paw Paw. The project took 102 hours to complete. Ledesma also earned 52 merit badges, more than twice the minimum 21 merit badges required to earn the rank of Eagle.
    Lewis’ Eagle project was planning and implementing the painting of a retaining wall at the Paw Paw District Library. The project took 180 service hours to complete.
    DeYoung’s Eagle project was the implementation of a project to paint a cabin at Northpoint,  in South Haven, camouflage, to blend into the natural beauty of the county park.
    Ledesma, Lewis, and DeYoung are all students at Paw Paw High School. Ledesma is a sophomore, Lewis, a senior, and  DeYoung, a junior.
    Life Scout, Mason Aldrich served as master of ceremonies. Others in the ceremony included Paw Paw Troop 169 Assistant ScoutmasterMatthew Ludwig, Color Guard Commander Alex Goscenski, and the Troop 169 Color Guard.
