PAW PAW - For the 31st year, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Women are preparing for their annual Cookie Walk.  The walk will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the church, located at 412 Cedar Street in Paw Paw.  The doors open at 9 a.m. The Cookie Walk continues until all cookies are sold.
Those attending the sale will purchase a decorated container, suitable for gift giving, in one of four sizes - small, medium, medium large, or large - don a plastic glove, and circle decorated tables to make their own selection from the cookies baked by church members.
In the 31 years that the church has held the Cookie Walk, funds raised have been used to support programs locally and internationally.  This year, local recipients include Wings of God, United Christian Services, Senior Services of Van Buren County, and Eleanor’s Pantry. Funds also support the Nets for Life Program to protect against malaria throughout the world, as well as the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund’s efforts in disaster relief.
The ECW also helps fund a scholarship for a deserving young woman in the Dominican Republic. A new recipient of funds is Pine Ridge, a Native American reservation.
In conjunction with the Cookie Walk, St. Mark’s Art Guild will hold its 24th annual craft sale, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring jewelry, knitted items, papier mache objects, bath bombs, holiday decorations, soft sculpture dolls, Christmas tree ornaments and more.  All items are created by members of the guild.
A raffle of four items will be held and tickets are available in advance from church members or during the sale.  Items to be raffled are a small quilt, pottery bowl, necklace and earrings and a holiday table runner. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  The drawing is at 2 p.m.; entrants need not be present to win (License #X01150, Funds to the Church’s General Fund).
