Semi-truck/trailer roll-over last Thursday on Interstate 94 near Mattawan

    A semi-truck/trailer roll-over last Thursday at around 4 p.m. on Interstate 94 near Mattawan, resulted in minor injuries to the driver, according to Terron McLean, Mattawan Fire District Chief.  The rig was hauling approximately 4,400 gallons of motor oil, of which an estimated 800 to 900  gallons  leaked on the ground as a result of the accident.  Left lanes in both directions were shut down while authorities and responders investigated and cleared the scene. Westbound traffic was re-opened at about 7:40 p.m. McLean said Michigan Department of Transportation continues the clean-up process. Assisting at the crash site were Mattawan Quick Response, Van Buren Emergency Medical Services, Michigan State Police MSP Motor Carrier Division, Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, and McDonald’s  Towing.
