Summer activities with VBDL

LAWRENCE BRANCH HOSTS COMMUNITY PICNIC
LAWRENCE - Flamenco guitarist, Gladius is set to perform in two area free concerts this month, as part of special library events by the Lawrence and Mattawan branches of  the Van Buren District Library.
Gladius will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. as part of the VBDL Lawrence Community Branch’s Community Picnic, Friday, July 13, beginning at 5 p.m. in the Lawrence Village Park.
More than a fabulous performer and award-winning composer, listeners have called Gladius ‘a miracle in the making’ by prevailing over a crippling case of nerve damage which greatly hindered the dexterity of both his hands and could have easily ended his career.
Visit: www.GladiusMusic.com for more information on Gladius.
Those attending the  picnic are asked to bring a dish to pass. Hot dogs, buns, condiments and dishes prepared in the library’s cooking classes will be provided by the library.
Reservations to help plan for food are appreciated, but not required.
On on Friday July 20, beginning at 10:30 a.m. the Lawrence Community Branch Library has arranged for the KSO Instrument Petting Zoo to visit.
Children ages five and up are invited to come and explore musical instruments during this interactive, hands-on experience. Trained docents will bring instruments, activities, recordings and will play brief recorded examples, then assist students with playing instruments.
Registration is appreciated but not required.
Hours for the Lawrence Community Branch Library, 212 N. Paw Paw St., are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to -7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
