Longtime Antwerp Township Board member Ron Derhammer was recognized last Saturday with a state Special Tribute. Derhammer recently stepped down from the board after serving  since 1982.  The Special Tribute read in part: “Mr. Derhammer has served the people of Antwerp Township as a Township Board Trustee. Throughout his tenure, he has shown a penchant for care and service that is a guiding light for us all. Through his exemplary work, he helped craft Antwerp Township into a community we can all be proud of.”  The Tribute was signed by State Rep. Beth Griffin, State Senator Tonya Schuitmaker, Lt. Gov. Brian Calley and Gov. Rick Snyder. In addition to the township board, Derhammer also served on the township Planning Commission and the Parks and Recreation Committee. Among those in attendance for the presentation were Antwerp Township officials Dan Ruzick, Bonnie Osborne, Bruce Cutting, and Gary Stock; and members of Derhammer’s family and friends, including Janelle Chadwick, Waylon Chadwick, Emery Motter, Landon Motter, Matt Motter, Phyllis Derhammer, Blake Derhammer, Paige Derhammer, Joe Dragiecvich, Jan Dragiecvich, Jerry Osborne, and Sally Derhammer.
