Many hands make bright holiday for troops

More than 50 community volunteers and employees from Wahmhoff Farms Nursery, 22330 M-40 Highway, Gobles, turned out Monday morning to take part in the  Trees for Troops event. Nearly 600 donated Christmas trees were loaded into  two FedEx trailers. This year’s Christmas trees are being shipped to Camp Lejeune - New River in North Carolina, a Marine Corps Base Camp, according to Betsy Wahmhoff Perales, of Wahmhoff Farms Nursery. In 2017, more than  17,000 Christmas trees were delivered to 70 military bases across the country, according to the Christmas Spirit Foundation, which runs the Tree for Troops program.
